Tim McGraw Concert

Dana and I had one awesome date night friday night! We got to go to the Tim Mcgraw Concert at the new Intrust Bank Arena. Which seats 15,000 people!!! We had been excited about this for quite awhile. And we had even more fun than we could have imagined!!! Check it out!!!

I didn't bring my Canon camera b/c I didn't think they would let me in with it. But then I saw a lady in the bathroom with my exact camera. Grrr. Next time I will know (We have 3 tickets on the floor to see Carrie Underwood late Oct. We are taking Kennedy!!! She of course doesn't know yet though. So shhhhhh!). So all of these are off of our old little camera.

When we got to our seats and sat down and this is what we saw.......we knew we had some of the best seats in the house!!! And boy did it prove to be true! We were in row H. And our seats were next to the runway that went out into the crowd!

The view behind us 30 min before the concert started. I think 3/4 of the arena filled up in the last 10 minutes.

Love and Theft was the first opening act. I am a fan of them. Most people have heard several songs that they sing on the radio but don't realize that they sing them.

Can't go to a country concert with out wearing your boots.

Our wristbands. This is when you know you have good seats!

Lady Antebellum!!!! They were awesome. Sounded just as good live as when you are listening to their c.d. I got to touch both male lead singer's hand!!!!

Check out those high heels!!!

When Tim first came out on the stage!

I actually took this picture myself. Turned out way better than the one the drunk girl in front of us took of us with our camera!

This was his fiddle player. He was sooo good. And he was nice enough to take a picture for the little boy two rows up from us with his game boy (or whatever it was). The boy was soooo excited.

I actually ended up getting to touch Tim's hand 3 times!!!! Too cool.

Pregnant lady at Tim McGraw!

Here is a short video of him and the Warren Bros. singing one of my favorite songs. You can't really see him b/c it was so dark. But that's how it really was. And I didn't zoom at all on any of these pictures or video if that tells you how close we were!!! Make sure to pause our playlist music before you start the video!

Party Hardy

Last Saturday was our good friend's daughter Maddison's 4th birthday. So we spent the afternoon partying. They had the best time in so many ways.

She had more than enough help from my two girls opening her gifts. She is definately one sweet girl. She didn't even seem to care :)

Her strawberry shortcake cake. It was really cute. The girls couldn't wait to dismantle all the cool stuff on it.

Maddison getting ready to blow out her candles. That is her great grandma in the background with her mommy. Her G.G. is in her mid 80's. She looks a.w.e.s.o.m.e.!

Melissa and I hanging out on the beach towels in the grass. It was 94 degrees. So I felt I was doing pretty good for a pregnant woman. There was a nice breeze.

Miss Bailey Hattie

break time

And Miss Gentry.......well she's been acting.......her age lately. She was bawling b/c she wanted milk not water. We have a saying around here..."You get what ya get and you don't throw a fit!". She doesn't like it much.

These Days

This post is about lots of things. So I guess I will start with yesterday's Dr.'s appt. Baby Emery's heartbeat is still staying around 160 beats. When we listened to it at the doctor Gentry smiles and says "Emery is grumbling". Everything seems to be looking good so far.
-I won't have my placenta checked until around 32-34 weeks. So I have a little ways to go on that.
-I have been having some lovely pain on my right side of my upper rib cage. And issues with food. So I will be having a sonogram to find out if I have a gall stone or gall bladder issue (which run in my Dad's family). If it does turn out to be my g.b. that is causing this then we will try to control it through diet through the rest of the pregnancy and I will have it removed sometime after.
-If it's not g.b. problems then I will probably be doing some physical therapy.

Well enough of that fun discussion and on to the next.

I am up to my neck in laundry. The laundry fairy is feeling....well...not in the mood. If there was ever one thing that I could pay someone to do for me. It would totally be my laundry. But I guess I better get over that sometime real soon. B/c my loads will only be increasing before long.

The girls have been enjoying this warmer weather in their pool. I literally have to drag them out.

She actually happened to be my "poser" yesterday! Doesn't happen too often these days.

What is it with kids and cups? You buy them these cool pool toys and what do they play with?....the cup.

We have been eating all of our meals outside in the evenings. I find myself sliding down in the chair at the end of the meal and just relaxing while staring up at the sky. Our umbrella was the best $30 clearance item I have ever spent at Lowe's...5 years ago.

These cherries are seriously ....the....best....ever. My friend's mother has a cherry tree in her yard. While out for a walk the other night she asked if we might like to have some. We just had to pick 'em. So after our walk Dana went back to pick. You can pop these babies right in to your mouth and they are peeerfect. Not too tart either. So since my hubs desires homemade pie more than you could imagine he pitted them all for me!

I am perfecting this whole crust thing much better than last year. But I still have some work to do on my pinching technique. I never leave enough on the edges. My mother is a pro at this. So I guess I should ask for a lesson.

These cool little things protect your crust from getting too brown in the oven. My mom gave them to me for Christmas and let me tell ya they work like a champ! Thanks mom :)

The pie came out of the oven late. So we didn't get to eat any last night. But when I got up this morning this is what I found. Guess what honey dearest had for breakfast? But I would be lying if I said I didn't have any either!

We probably have enough cherries to make at least 4 more pies. Plus a whole other bucket full of cherries that were picked sooner for canning purposes. So I am going to take a stab at canning and make some jelly. I promise nothing but hope for the best!

Where I Come From

Most people that know me know that I grew up on a farm in rural North Central, KS.
But most people that know me these days don't know what my roots look like. That's what happens when you move away, closer to the city. People don't know your roots.
These are some things that lots of people find interesting about me. Things that people don't expect from me b/c they don't know my roots:
-My Dad is a farmer. He has raised wheat, corn, milo, soybeans, and alfalfa for many years. Although not all of those crops are planted every year. He also has livestock.
-My Grandfather was a farmer. My great grandfather was a farmer. And my dad and uncle still farm the same ground as my grandfathers did. And my parents live where my dad grew up.
-I rode many hours in the tractor and combine as a kid. I thought it was so fun to turn the blinker on every time my dad would turn in the field. Ahhhhh the simple pleasures in life!
-My mother swore she would never marry a farmer growing up. She has been married to my father for 28.5 years now. That's what you get when you swear.
-I have never seen any man work as hard as a farmer. It actually makes it hard for me to feel any sort of remorse for a man that complains about how tired he is when he has a "city slicker" job. I always chuckle.......then I want to yell "Suck it up". They wouldn't survive one day out of the office.
-I have my own cattle over the years. Some of which I bottle fed as babies.
-My first "Real" job was on a dairy. Yes you read it right..... a dairy. A dairy where cows are milked. I worked there for one whole year. My shift would last an avg. of 8-9 hrs. I would operate the milking equipment on around 500 Holstein cows. Was it a physical job? Uhhh...YES! Did I get pooped and peed on? Yes, every time. Did I look hot in my Levi's, cut off shirt and rubber boots at the age of 15? Hell yes I did. I bought my very first car with the money I made working at Meier Dairy. I have now had the car for almost 12 years. It still runs and my hubby drives it to work everyday. That's what happens when you work your a** off to pay for something at such young age. You take reeeeallly good care of it!

So here are some pictures of "Where I Come From"

Every farm house has some sort of front porch. My parents love theirs. Can you see why? It is the perfect place for conversation, relaxation and memory making.

This is my parents view from their front porch. It's one of the things you take advantage of growing up......seeing the sun set. And seeing every storm roll in.

Heading to the field.

Dad's newest tracor is a New Holland. It has a buddy seat (aka a second seat beside the driver's). He did not have this when my brother and I were kids. Sure would've been handy. But you know how that goes. Your parents always get nicer things when you're gone. Probably b/c they aren't spending their money on you anymore. Anyway the extra seat is nice!

The grain cart full of seed out in the field. Eventually the planter empties out. That's when she fills him up.

Every farmer has very tan, very dirty arms. It represents hard work.

Some farmers have livestock. This farmer has cattle.

Cattle have to be fed. Therefore when the farmer has cattle. He never goes on vacation. They have to be counted often to make sure there isn't an escapee and doctored frequently. And then of course fed and watered.

This is the farmer's ride for his cattle. They come in the stock trailer and leave in the stock trailer.

Most every farmer has a daughter. Therefore she is the farmer's daughter. And this is the Farmer's eldest grandaughter. Ain't she a cutie!

Every farm has a shed. Most have several. Some are big and some are small. And on the side of at least one of those sheds is usually a basketball goal. An old weathered beat up basketball goal. This was ours as kids. Still the same. Just a little less paint.

And it's not a farm with out a dog. Some farm dogs are smarter than others. Zoey might fit under the "others" category. She's been ran over by the drill once and survived somehow. She's eaten D-Con (Rat poison) on several occasions. Even though she knows she has to have peroxide poured down her throat afterwards and she violently throws up for a good solid day. And then of course follows that up with a round of pills from the trusty vet. But Zoey is also very loving and NEVER barks unless something threatening is in her territory.

Well, this is a "little" taste of Where "I" Come From.

Sorry it has been 2 whole weeks since I have posted. The longest ever. The blog just hasn't made top priority these last couple of weeks. Seems like I'm hardly keeping my head above water these days. But when you work 3 days a week, chase a 2 & 4 year old around while building #3 and try to run a house you tend to get a little ...well....exhausted every now and then. But I am back! And promise to do better. For awhile anyway.
