Days of Our Lives

Here are some other pics from the last week or two here. We did get some crazy weather about a week ago and the week before that. The girls LOVE watching the snow out the back door. Kennedy and her friend Lane made Rice Krispie Christmas Houses together the other day. And then last night they got to exchange their Christmas gifts. They were pretty excited.

We went and visited Santa at Town East this evening. Poor Santa, I don't know how many more years he has left in him. He is the nicest, but he sure looks wore out. He needs to put on about a 100 lbs to play the part a little more factual but I can't say they have a long line of overweight men sigining up to be the patient jolly old man in the red suit either. So cheers to Santa!!! He sure made Kennedy's night. Although she did make it very clear from the beginning that she would not be sitting on his lap. She would stand beside him and tell him what she wanted. And Gentry made it very clear upon the visitation that she would not be sitting on the big guy's lap either. But it was fun and then we took in some xmas light sight seeing.

Well Gentry has had a long road these last couple of months. Really since the beginning of the summer. The tubes cured the ear infection plague thankfully though. But now we on to continual respiratory problems. She just went to the doctor a week ago tomorrow to be seen for the the same respiratory stuff for the 3rd time in 2 months. She always tests neg. for RSV thankfully but her lungs are always wet and filled up and boy doesn she get a nasty cough. So she is too young to actualy diagnose with asthma but they are pretty convinced that is what she has. It does run in my mom's family too. She has completed two rounds of prednizone and it worked temporarily but then it always fires back up again. So obviously this time we had to go an alternative route. So now a nebulizer/breathing treamtment machine has become a new permanant appliance at our house. She is doing breathing treatments every 6-8 hrs and will hopefully be able to cease that in the next couple of days. Then we will just use it as needed. She is also on amoxicillan! Yeah, I just love meds. So I have posted a pic of her doing a breathing treatment and boy does she look cute!!!

Then to make matters worse she was walking around the couch the evening of her doctors appt. and lost her balance and caught the corner of the coffee table. So we got our first shiner. Not too bad, but sure added to her traumatic day and mine!!!! dr

The Big Hunt!

Well, we went on the great tree hunt late afternoon/early evening monday. We broke tradition and tried a new tree farm this year. It is in the most beautiful location and we found ourselves really enjoying the scenery. That's probably why we closed the place down for the night! We somehow always have good intentions of getting to the tree farm in decent time but by the time Dana gets off work there usually isn't much daylight left and he even leaves early. But we found the perfect tree and the girls really enjoyed the hayrack ride through the woods. The weather was pretty cold but no wind so we couldn't complain.

The Latest and Greatest

So, we have had a lot going on recently. Thanksgiving was great, yummy, fast and tiring. We got to see a lot of family that we hadn't seen in a while and ate lots of food that we didn't need to eat. But it was great to have that overstuffed feeling while being surrounded by the people we love most. Saturday after Thanksgiving one of my good friends from growing up got married. We went to school K-12 together and have lots of good memories. She married a guy who just so happened to grow up down the road from me and my family in the country. Anyway, I helped out with the wedding hair (two bridesmaids and two flowergirls). It was a beautiful wedding and she was a beautiful bride. It even snowed the most breathtaking snow that morning while we were doing all of the hair. It was picture perfect. Congrats Paige and Russ!

SOOO, then we are getting ready to head out Sunday late afternoon. We stopped back by Dana's parent's to say good bye and get the rest of our stuff. Not two minutes after we walk in their house Kennedy gets sick and tosses her cookies all over Grandma, her living room floor and kitchen floor. We knew if would be a fun ride home. We had another BAD episode about an hour and a half into the drive. Luckily we had a bowl and towel. And then round three right when we got home. She sure was a trooper though. She's had the other end off and on all week and she still smiles laughs and packs an ornery punch.

Gentry popped her top two teeth through, FINALLY!! So, now we are up to four. They are some real chompers too! She's going to have some chicklet teeth just like her sister did. But boy are they cute!

Party Party!

This weekend was full of fun parties with our families. My Grandmother's 80th birthday is this next week and we had a surprise party for her Saturday evening. She truly was surprised too! We even had family from out of state! She of coursed cried some tears along with rest of us when she walked into her party with all of her family (minus two of my cousins). We had dinner in a well known old beautiful historic house. It was so much fun to see everyone. And what an awesome memory for grandma!

We also celebrated Kennedy's birthday with the family this past weekend too! Boy was she ever excited. Daddy and I weren't so sure she would even make it to her party w/o busting at the seams. Mommy made her cakes. Her one request was a butterfly cake. Which was labor intensive but turned out fairly cute. She did not lack for gifts. She got so many awesome things. Gentry was just as happy with all of the wrapping paper! So thanks to all the family who made it so special for her!

Happy 3rd Birthday Kennedy!!!

Thursday was Kennedy's 3rd birthday! Hard to believe our first born is three years old already. Time is just going so fast. She started off her day with a birthday present waiting for her in the living room. She was very excited about her "own" rocking chair! Daddy put some work into it. Then it was off to school for another day of learning and of course a birthday party! She got to take ice cream cup cakes for her treats and boy was she ever excited! Mommy personalized party bags with goodies for all her classmates to take home so they would feel special too! And boy were they excited! Daddy took the day off from work for her birthday. So she got dropped off and picked up from school by her whole family. We then headed into Wichita for lunch and a trip to Build a Bear at the Mall. We let her pick where she wanted to eat lunch and of course her choice was........SONIC! Her favorite. Grilled cheese Wacky Pack with fries and chocolate milk. Our trip to Build a Bear was so much fun. She picked a pink bear w/ white hearts. She got to kiss her heart and put it in her after she was stuffed and then they sewed her up! She selected a Hanna Montana stylin' outfit and of course a pair of undies! But the best part was that she selected the shoes for her bear before she ever selected the bear or outfit. They are bright red sparkly Dorothy shoes straight from the Wizard of OZ! So then it was on to the birth certificate and Kennedy chose to name her Stephanie (after one of the elephants at the Sedgewick Co. Zoo)! It was an awesome day for her and us. Despite the cold windy weather.

An afternoon of leaves in the sun!

Sorry it has been soooo long since we have posted. So now we are playing catch up. These pictures were actually taken about two weeks ago in our front yard. I let Kennedy postpone her nap one afternoon for a little while to play in the leaves in the yard. Gentry was napping so mommy got some pretty good pics of Kennedy. And later that evening the neighbor's grandkids joined her for some more fun in the leaves. Now the trees are pretty much bare and ugly. And the beautiful leaves are now mulched into the yard.

Halloween

Well, Halloween went fairly well here considering the circumstances (almost 3 yr old and 9 month old in costumes past their bedtime forcing them to look cute). They had fun though and the weather could not have been more perfect. Kennedy was a ladybug and Gentry was a cat. Our neighbor boy and his family trick or treated with us. He was a little horsey.
Some of us girls at the salon dressed up. It was quite the crack up. We had a nun, a hippie, a butterfly and Cleopatra (me!) We had a great time and even got a picture of us together!!!

Happy Birthday Little Bro!

So, today is my brother's birthday. He is 19 and it still feels like he should be four again. I am sure he is celebrating at his little mansion in Manhattan with some friends. I sure didn't get invited! Anyway, I hope he survives his first REAL birthday party!!! Happy Birthday Ryan!!!

Fall is Here!

Fall is one of our favorite seasons and we always get pretty festive when it gets here. So of course we had to get some pics of the girls out in the yard with the old scarescrow!

Weekend Wedding

Well, we survived our weekend and had a lot of fun. Dana and Kennedy were both in a friends wedding Saturday. Dana was a groomsman and Kennedy the flower girl. They both did a wonderful job if I might say so. Kennedy did her job of walking her and Carter(the 18month old ring bearer) down the isle. And boy did they look cute! However the rest of the time with her proved to be a little challenging since she does tend to be a LITTLE headstrong at times. That's when we say she is acting like her uncles(all of them!). During the actual wedding ceremony she sat with mommy up front and to the right, where no one else was sitting. She knew she was being watched and that we were in church. Therefore she turned up the ornery meter and pushed every button mommy had knowing that she more than likely wouldn't walk her out in front of the whole wedding ceremony kicking and screaming. At one interval during the wedding the altar server was ringing the bells and as soon as he finished and in the dead silence Kennedy says VERY LOUDLY "That boy rings those door bells LOUD!" It was heard by everyone from the east wall to the west and a roll of chuckles made its way across the body of wedding comers. My face was so red with embarrassment all I could do was look down. Of course she started snickering knowing that she had made a funny once she heard the low key laughter. When the whole wedding party made their exit from the premises in old classic cars she threw the BIGGEST fit ever. Once we finally could get her to use her words she spit out that she wanted to go home so she could take her shoes off b/c they were hurting. So Daddy removes them to find both of her heals were bleeding from blisters. No wonder she was mad. Overall though it was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time.

October Birthdays

Okay, october is birthday month for us. Both family and friends. There's just a lot of birthdays! Today happens to be Kristi's birthday; one of my best friends from childhood. We celebrated our birthdays together through most of our school years. Here is a picture that will give you a good laugh from our innocent days. Hope you all get a kick out of it!
